Spain is a partner country of LA Referencia through the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, F.S.P. (FECYT). FECYT promotes the open access movement in Spain by collaborating in the proper design and implementation of open access and Open Science policies at both the national and European levels.

Through RECOLECTA, the Open Science Harvester, FECYT operates the national aggregator of open access repositories. This platform brings together all Spanish digital infrastructures where research results are published and/or deposited in open access.

RECOLECTA, or Open Science Harvester, is the national aggregator of open access repositories. This platform brings together all Spanish digital infrastructures where research results are published and/or deposited in open access.

RECOLECTA was created in 2007 as a result of the collaboration between the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and the Network of University Libraries (REBIUN) of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE).
