As a partner country of the LA Referencia project, it has developed national initiatives and projects on Open Access, which can be summarized as follows: the creation of the National Publications Repository (PRICILA), the implementation of a national CRIS system, a national research data repository, among others.

The Portal of Institutional Repositories of Science, Technology and Innovation of Open Literature (PRICILA) is an initiative of the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT), aimed at promoting the dissemination of the scientific and technological intellectual output of the Republic of Panama. It does so through interoperability with various institutional and thematic repositories in Panama, originating from different academic or scientific research organizations.
